The history of Egypt is divided into three phases: the Old Kingdom; Middle Kingdom and the New Kingdom. Throughout these three periods, Egypt reached its peak. However, from the seventh century BC Egypt was invaded by various people and lost its former splendor. Following is a brief explanation of each period.
OLD EMPIRE (3200 BC - 2100 BC.)
During the Old Kingdom were built drainage works and irrigation, which allowed the expansion of agriculture; that period are still the great pyramids of the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure, built near Memphis, the capital of Egypt at the time.
